Il progetto consiste nel design del padiglione Italia all’interno della cittadella di Expo 2015 a Milano.
Nel bando veniva richiesto di sviluppare il padiglione attorno al tema dell’albero della vita e venivano fornite dettagliatamente una serie di funzioni da collocare nell’edificio. Fondamentalmente si tarttava di uffici, spazi espositivi, aree riunioni ed un ristorante all’ultimo piano.
La proposta prevedeva la realizzazione della struttura grazie alla tecnologia D-shape, ideata dall’ingegner Enrico Dini.
Quest’ultima consente la stampa 3D di manufatti di larga scala ottenendo sostanzialmente roccia. Successivamente La struttura veniva popolata da una serie di elementi modulari riconfigurabili a seconda delle necessità. La facciata veniva realizzata con una struttura metallica e un rivestimento cinetico in membrana traslucida. Grazie al controllo remoto era possibile controllare il livello di trasparenza della facciata in base al clima ed alle esigenze. L’intera copertura veniva rivestita di pannelli fotovoltaici a soddisfare completamente il fabbisogno elettrico dell’edificio.
The project is a proposal for the Italian pavilion inside the Expo 2015 in Milan. Details were given in a series of functions to be placed in the building. Basically there were offices, exhibition spaces, meeting areas and a restaurant on the top floor.
The proposal adopt the creation of the structure with the D-shape technology, patented by the engineer Enrico Dini.
This allows the 3D printing of large-scale elements as rock. The structure was then populated by a series of modular elements which can be reconfigured as needed.
The facade was made with a metallic frame and a kinetic coating in translucent membrane. Thanks to the remote control, it was possible to change the transparency of the façade according to the climate conditions and needings. The roof was covered with photovoltaic panels to fully satisfy the building’s electrical requirements.
